4/26/12 Airport Security

According to House Republicans, they believe that T.S.A. are not safer even before 9/11. The only thing that he thinks keeps us safe is that the American public will not let a terrorist take over flight just like American 11 or United 93. In my personal opinion, I feel that airport security in the United States is strict, but the fact that the guards who work there pretend to be guards when they are actually thieves. I go to an airport and I want the security guards who are there to check my bags. There were problems where robbers dressed up has T.S.A. guards took passenger’s wallets, laptops, and jewelry. I do not feel safe about that and the fact that our country works hard to make sure that we are safe. I also feel that the T.S.A. security guards should not waste the water placed in plastic bottles. The world in general is running out of money, with the continuously wasting of water, our world will not have water left creating major issues to the environment and economy. A few countries considered as world powers today is not enough to help the nations that are between the verges of having no money to some left. I also feel that the T.S.A. should not randomly inspect bags. I feel that every suitcase should be inspected in detail and that they should do it at a quick pace for passengers to be at their gate on time without panicking. For example, In Los Angeles, security guards randomly choose passengers to step to the side for additional inspection. This creates headaches for them, but the safety for us humans is at risk. People like terrorists can sneak past them with explosives in their luggage without being searched. By the time, the plane is in the air, it is already too late to know whether or not the bags have dangerous weapons or if your plane will be hijacked. That is what my personal opinion is towards airport security in the country that I currently reside in. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/68509.html

http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/aircraft-pictures/2011/06/jetblue-a321.html

JetBlue Airways is low cost airline serving 73 domestic and international destinations across the globe. Currently, the airline uses Airbus 321, Airbus 320 and Embraer 190s. In the near future, they are planning to utilize Airbus 320 neos and. The Airbus 321 can be used on high traffic routes. High traffic routes include New York JFK to Los Angeles or Boston to Cancun. I consider the route from New York to Los Angeles a high traffic route because New York is the main hub for the airline and it takes roughly 6.5 hours to get from point a to point b. Boston is also a high traffic route because Boston is a focus city for JetBlue and that Cancun is a major tourist area. The Airbus 321 could hold about 185 passengers and the Airbus 320 could hold about 150 souls. A larger plane can hold more people, deciding on lesser flights from the same airport. The blog gives the insight on the future aircraft for JetBlue. The airline mostly consists of Airbus 320 and Embraer 190. Now the company has chosen to use the Airbus 321. The Airbus 321 has begun services between New York-JFK and San Juan as well as New York-JFK and Bridgetown.

The new plane can hold 175 passengers making a 30 percent increase with the current fleet configuration. Currently the new plane flies from Fort Lauderdale to Chicago-Midway and Baltimore. The plane also flies to Chicago-Midway and Philadelphia from Fort Myers. Baltimore flies to Los Angeles using this model. The destinations mentioned are some of the airline's secondary hub airports. This blog gives the reader the insight of a new model aircraft joining the Southwest Airlines fleet on April 11, 2012. TSA Pre-Check program rolls out at O'Hare

http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Pre-Check-Security-Begins-at-OHare-143540156.html I agree with what the TSA or Transportation Security Administration is doing at a major airport. This governmental group is approaching the general public in a way that can help all airport travelers. They also want to provide safety to travelers and cut down on any additional terrorist attacks just like in September 11, 2001. It is currently only at the O Hare Airport, which is in Chicago. With the TSA offering to use a pre-check program, fliers will be able to pass through without waiting in long lines that cause headaches to them. In order for it to work, each passenger must receive a pass to use it at the airport checkpoint. The membership bar code will be placed on the boarding passes of all traveling people. It is usually good for passengers coming from another country into the United States, also called international flights. Currently, it is only available to passengers flying on American Airlines at the airport. In the near future, many airlines will also be using this option in order to process passengers rapidly and get them to their flights on time. The news screening can also help to officers to better keep watch of the passengers and what they carried in their luggage. The travelers would be able to wear their light coat, belt, and keep laptops in the case. Aviation-Related

Aviation is the subject that I would like to discuss. I am Matthew Yang and I really like aviation ranging from civil airplanes to airports in general. When I go to an airport, I normally can identify the IATA code of the airport and know what kind of planes can land and takeoff. The type of plane that can park at what gate and what planes cannot. For example, An Airbus 380 cannot park in an area where a CRJ-900 does. First of all, there won’t be any room. Second, the jet bridge will not be high enough to fit the aircraft for easy deplaning options. Third, the terminal would need to be constructed with dual jetways and the third one above the jetways. Another thing I know is that many airports have bags with a closed area and some with an open area. For example, baggage claims at long beach are outside the terminal because the airport was used during the roaring 20s and they would like to keep the airport with an open-air feeling. In major cities in the world, baggage claims are at the lowest level of the terminal. That is what I currently know about aviation.
